 Barrett: The 154 anglers checked reported 1,099 bass, 109 bluegill, all released. Fishing ends here Saturday. Waterfowl season opens Oct. 20.
 Chollas: Open daily to youngsters 15 and under.
 Cuyamaca: Change in the weather was just what this lake needed as trout action exploded Saturday in time for the Ninth Annual Orville P. Ball Fishin’ In The Pines Kids Fishing Derby. More than 300 kids fished, with 101 of them weighing in trout. Results of derby: Grand prize, Xavier Garcia, Lakeside, 2-8 trout. Kids 12-15 years old: Glenn Rauch, 2-4 trout. Ages 8-11: Mica Toetter, 1-15 trout; Garrett Hauber, 1-15 trout. Ages 2-7: Lance Rodgers, 2-4 trout; second, Jacob Escalera, 2-4 trout; third, Neshay Linton, 2-3 trout. Smallest trout: Joshua Barbato, 4-ounce rainbow. Lake received nearly 5,000 pounds of rainbow trout prior to the derby, and a lot remain. Other catches: Thomas Drach, El Cajon, 11-0 channel catfish, shrimp, Lone Pine. Gary Motika, Pine Valley, 2-8 trout, Power Bait, Island. Missy Belmer, San Diego, 2-4 trout, gold Panther Martin, Trolling. Open daily.
 
Dixon: Catfish still hitting near the buoy line. Bass active early and late along the shoreline, especially near the boat dock coves. Open daily.
 El Capitan: The 67 anglers checked (Saturday and Sunday only) reported 1 bass kept (64 bass released), 10 crappie and 4 channel catfish. Open Thursdays and Mondays for fishing only (permits must be purchased at the iron rangers on Mondays); Friday through Sunday for fishing and water contact (skiing, wakeboarding and Jet Skis, etc.).
 Henshaw: Catfish numbers continue to amaze. Shrimp, chicken livers and night crawlers producing some big numbers. Al Gumabon, Cypress, caught and released 39 channel catfish, his best being a 12.3-pounder and a 8.6-pounder. Deran Young, San Diego, 5-0 bullhead (IGFA all-tackle mark is 4-15 for yellow bullhead). Open daily.
 Hodges: The 151 anglers checked reported 3 bass kept (70 bass released), 37 crappie and 8 channel catfish. Alex Eastman, Del Dios, 2 bass, 12.15 with a 7.75, Roboworms, Hernandez Cove. Stu Hinkle, La Mesa, 5 bass, 11.82 with a 4.55, Senkos, Bernardo Bay. Open Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.
 Jennings: Supervising ranger Hugh Marx reports “hottest bass bite of the year” last week. Bass were boiling on shad and hitting topwater lures, Kastmasters or small Bass Assassins. Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
 Loveland: The 72 anglers checked reported 1 bass kept (44 bass released), 5 bluegill, 1 channel catfish. Open daily.
 Miramar: Open daily to fishing and boating. Iron ranger or electronic pay station near the concession building.
 Morena: Good action early for bass along the shoreline. Roboworms and Senkos producing. Open daily.
 Murray: The 31 anglers checked reported 18 bass kept (18 bass released), 51 bluegill. Open daily to fishing and boating.
 Otay, Lower: The 108 anglers checked reported 7 bass kept (66 bass released), 36 bluegill, 4 channel catfish, 1 crappie. Open Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.
 Otay, Upper: The 14 anglers checked reported 9 bass, all released. Open Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday to catch-and-release fishing, barbless hooks only.
 Poway: Starting Oct. 1, the lake will be open on weekends only until Nov. 1. Open Wednesday through Sunday.
 Santee Lakes: Jacob Richwine, Spring Valley, 6-0 bass (released), 6-inch plastic worm, Lake 5. Bob Mutten and Manny Roybal, 3 catfish – 11-0 and two 10s – meal worms and marshmallows, Lake 4. National Hunting and Fishing Day: Because of a scheduling snafu, local conservation groups, government agencies and sportsmen and women will gather here Saturday to celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day a week after the official day. The event goes from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and includes a casting contest, raffles, dog hunting demonstrations, predator calling and more.  San Vicente: The 78 anglers checked reported 11 bass kept (176 bass released), 40 bluegill, 12 channel catfish and 4 blue catfish. Cody Newton, Santee, 19.00 blue catfish (released), mackerel, Island. John Jones, El Cajon, 16.55 blue catfish (released), mackerel, Buoy Line. Open Thursday and Friday for fishing and water contact; Saturday and Sunday for water contact only. Starting in October, open Saturday for fishing (no boat rentals) and water contact and Sunday for water contact only. In November it goes to fishing only on weekends.
 Sutherland: The 88 anglers checked reported 1 bass kept (104 released), 12 bluegill, 8 channel catfish, 4 blue catfish, 3 bullhead. Julia Martinez, Ramona, 12.40 blue catfish (first fish), mackerel, Santa Ysabel Arm. Jeremy and Leonard Jones, San Diego, 5 bass (released), 21.50 with a 5.20. George Biegel, Mission Viejo, 2 carp, 12.00 with a 8.00, bread, Dock Cove. Open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday (permits must be purchased at the iron ranger stations on Mondays).
 Sweetwater: The 45 anglers checked reported 8 bass (all released), 5 bluegill, 2 carp, 2 channel catfish. Open Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
 Wohlford: Lake open only on weekends until trout season, Dec. 15. Because of quagga mussel threat, the ban remains in place on private boats and private equipment such as float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, etc. Open Saturday and Sunday.
